SCORE SOME MEGA STEET CRED!
Rock your iPad on your shoulder with this fully functional 1980’s boombox. We’re happy to introduce the BoomMaster, a rad new music player specifically designed for your hip-hoppin’, rockin’ pleasure. Inspired by the awesome boomboxes of the 1980s, the BoomMaster kicks it old school and hints at things to come.
BoomMaster strives to take full advantage of the iPad’s shape and weight, screen real estate and multi-touch screen functionality. As soon as the app opens, you’ll notice a little hint of vintage styling. Yep, the BoomMaster’s buttons and controls really do work. When music plays, album art displays on the screen above the tape deck.

PLAYING MUSIC
- Begin by hitting Power on this virtual device.
- To load music from your iTunes collection, hit the Eject button on the tape deck. Your iTunes music collection will appear just to the right of the deck.
- To create your own Sweet Mix Tape, simply select songs, albums, or even artists.
- Once you’re set with your mix, hit Done.
- Hit Play to start the mix tape. When the music begins, the tape will begin to move in the tape-deck. (Man that little tape deck used to be so mesmerizing.)
VOLUME CONTROL
To control the volume, hold either side of the Volume wheel between your fingers and rotate the dial just like you did years ago.
REWIND/FORWARD AND SKIPPING AROUND
- Hit Rewind or Forward, and you’ll immediately be reminded of that good ol’ familiar sound of the tape whirling around.
- To skip forward to the next song, hit the Forward button again. (You can only skip forward or backward one song at a time.)
- Hold down Rewind or Forward to accelerate through the song.
THE HANDLEBAR AND ANTENNAS
There are some cool little things that aren’t so familiar but kinda funky in their own way. Hit the top left button on the boombox, and the handlebar will rise from the top. (A light left of the FM/AM Tuner will indicate that it’s active.) Hit that same button again and your first antenna will raise up. Hit the button one last time, and the secondary antenna will pop up. Hit the one more time, and everything sinks back down.
HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL ORIENTATION
Hold the BoomMaster horizontally and you’ll see a boombox similar to the ones you may have lugged around on your shoulder with your old crew. Turn the iPad vertically, and the BoomMaster’s big speaker takes over. If you wish to lock the horizontal or vertical view of the BoomMaster, hit the Screen Orientation Lock on the side of the iPad.
CHANGE YOUR SCENE
That plain old white background may to bland for your tastes. Why not make things dope? You can change the backgrounds behind the boombox by clicking one of the several buttons located below the FM/AM Tuner. Clicking these buttons will switch out the white background for any number of graffiti walls.
CAUTIONARY TALES
1. Batteries for BoomMaster app not included (and not needed). Don’t you remember how many D batteries you needed for your old boombox?
2. You’ve gotta know your limits with a boombox.
3. This is a cautionary tale. A boombox is not a toy.
